Porters developed as aged strong beers in the early 1700’s consumed by street and river Porters from which the beer derived its’ name. They were closely linked to stouts but were aged at the breweries before being sent out to pubs.
This wonderful example is certainly a treat, having won the gold medal at the 2017 Craft Brewers Pow Wow it goes down like silk and leaves you wanting more.
Dark Brown to black with a thick caramel coloured persistent foam head
Full malt aromatic with overtones of coffee and caramel. No hop aromatics should be present
Malt sweet balances bitterness. Coffee caramel notes from nose follow through the palate.
Full drinking with medium carbonation. The beer is smooth and whilst the malt flavours linger, the bitter is fast finishing.
